Fire Truck was stored inside the Seaplane Hangar, after it was demolished
Fire Truck being transported to a Scrapyard on Oahu
A US Fish and Wildlife Service employee took a government owned Fire Truck for a joy ride, after consumption of alcohol. This person also invited other USFWS Volunteers to ride along. The USFWS driver lost control of the truck and ran it into a vertical supporting steel beam of the NAF Hangar. This incident completely demolished the Fire Truck. A new/replacement Fire Truck was purchased by the USFWS, at a huge cost. Were there any ramifications for the USFWS employee? This incident remains one of the most closely guarded FWS secrets on Midway. A 2015 GAO Audit/Report found no documents relating to this incident.
